Richard Haruo Arakaki, born on June 4th, 1959, was a man whose life was defined by dedication, integrity, and love for his family and community. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 31st, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Seisuki “Richard” Arakaki, and survived by his mother, Emiko Arakaki. Survived by his Wife and soul mate Melva Arakaki. Career and Community
For over 45 years, Richard worked at Napa Auto Parts, serving as the store manager at the Napa store in Hanapepe. In this role, he helped countless residents and businesses on Kauai, becoming a trusted and reliable figure in the community. His dedication to his work and the people he served was a testament to his character.
Hobbies and Interests
Richard was a man of many passions. He loved working on his vehicles, camping, hunting, fishing, Judo, and riding dirt bikes. He achieved the rank of black belt from the Hanapepe Judo Club under the instruction of Sensei Honjiyo and Sensei Ueno, demonstrating his commitment and skill in the martial art. His weekends were often spent with his family, camping and fishing on the west side of Kauai, particularly in Kekaha and Polihale. These trips became cherished family traditions, creating lasting memories for all involved.
Personality and Values
Richard was known for his honesty and level-headed nature. He valued people who were honest with him and instilled the importance of hard work in his children. As his son, I remember him as a dedicated worker and a friend to all. He was always there for his children, providing unwavering love and support, no matter the circumstances.
